Israel is seeing mass protest against far-right government actions. American Jewish leaders are standing up, petitioning and writing to the Israeli government. One Rabbi even stopped saying the weekly Saturday liturgy prayer for the state of Israel in protest. Rabbi Jeremy Kalmanofsky made it clear his act of protest does not mean he is against Zionisim, however he described members of the Israeli coalition government as Jewish supremacists, fascists and racists. He said most of his conservative congregation supported him taking this stand because the actions of the Government go against the democratic liberal Jewish values.
There have been countless petitions to the government from Jewish faith leaders in recent weeks. Last week 185 leaders called on congress not to conflate criticism of Israel with antisemitism.
