California court rules in favor of Cathy Miller owner of Tastries bakery in Bakersfield California, in a year long legal battle. Cathy refused ot bake a custom cake for a lesbian couple on gorunds doing so violated her Christian belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.
The legal action was filed under law aimed at protecting consumers from discrimination on race, ethnicity or religon. The law aimed at protecting against discrimination was used to attempt to discriminate against Cathy based on her religious beliefs.
Even though the Miller's belief are mainstream Christian beliefs, the state questioned the sincerity of Cathy's faith.
