NEWS: India sees increased attacks on religious minorities.

Some Indian officials ignoring/ supporting religious attacks says U.S. report.

Report on global religiose freedom released on Thursday said attacks on members of
religious minority communities in India (the worlds most populous democracy),
including killings, assaults and intimidation, had occurred throughout the last year. These
included cow vigilantism – assaults on non-Hindus for allegedly slaughtering cows or trading
in beef.

Under P.M Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) laws against slaughtering
cows have been toughened. U.S secretary Anthony Blinken says; India has seen rising religious attacks against people and places of worship.

The BJP party has been accused of championing measures targeting religious minorities specifically Muslims. The U.S commission on religious freedoms has repeatedly recommended the State Department put India on a blacklist for it's continued ignoring or supporting of attacks on people and places of worship.
